Reflecting on a Blessed Ramadan: The Spirit of Giving with Asas International

As the crescent moon of Shawwal heralds the arrival of Eid al-Fitr, we at Asas International pause to reflect on the blessings and impactful initiatives undertaken during the holy month of Ramadan. This year, our commitment to serving humanity shone brightly through a series of activities that embodied the true spirit of giving, compassion, and community.

Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection, empathy, and acts of generosity. Guided by these principles, Asas International strived to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and families within our communities.

Nourishing the Fasting: Food Distribution in Harar and Dire Dawa

Understanding the fundamental need for sustenance, Asas International successfully distributed essential ration foods to 150 families in Harar and an additional 50 families in Dire Dawa. This initiative aimed to alleviate the burdens of fasting families, ensuring they had nourishing meals to break their fast and sustain them throughout the month. The smiles of gratitude on the faces of recipients were a powerful reminder of the impact of collective kindness.

Bringing Joy to Eid: New Clothes for Children in Harar

Eid al-Fitr is a time of celebration, especially for children. To share in this joy, Asas International provided cash assistance for the purchase of new Eid clothes for numerous children in Harar. Seeing their excitement and anticipation as they prepared for the festivities filled our hearts with immense satisfaction. This simple act of giving aimed to bring a sense of normalcy and happiness to their Eid celebrations.

Strengthening Our Scholars: Iftar, Salawat, and Meaningful Engagement

Our commitment extends deeply to the students under our scholarship program. This Ramadan, we hosted a special Iftar program for our beneficiary students, providing them with a communal space to break their fast. Following the meal, we engaged in moments of Salawat, fostering spiritual connection and unity.

Furthermore, in the midst of Ramadan, we held a brief meeting with our scholarship students. This was more than just a check-in; it was an opportunity to showcase Asas International’s unwavering care and support, especially during challenging times. By understanding their well-being and offering encouragement, we reaffirmed our belief in their potential and our commitment to their journey.

Expressing Gratitude: Certificates of Appreciation for Our Supporters

The impact of our Ramadan initiatives would not have been possible without the generous contributions of our donors and supporters. To acknowledge their invaluable role, Asas International extended certificates of appreciation, recognizing their commitment to our mission and their belief in the power of collective action. We are deeply grateful for their partnership in making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Connecting with Communities: Ziyara by the Harar Committee

Embodying the spirit of community engagement, the dedicated Harar committee of Asas International actively participated in Ziyara, visiting various dwellings on behalf of the organization. This act of reaching out and connecting with individuals in their homes underscores our commitment to being present and supportive within the communities we serve.

Looking Ahead:

As Ramadan concludes, the spirit of generosity and compassion it instills continues to guide our work at Asas International. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served our communities during this blessed month. The impact we have made together serves as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through collective effort and a shared commitment to making a positive difference.

Eid Mubarak to all! May this festive season bring peace, joy, and prosperity to you and your loved ones. We look forward to continuing our work, driven by the values of compassion and service, in the months and years to come.
